CHICAGO 02 January 2020 — The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago will be sending 12 delegates that will form part of the “2nd US Midwest Youth Leaders in Diaspora (YouLead) Immersion Program” in the Philippines on 03-09 January 2020.
The Philippine Consulate General held a briefing via video conference on 23 December 2019 with all the participants coming from various states in the Midwest.
The seven-day module is a combination of lectures on Philippine governance and migration, a visit to the Department of Foreign Affairs, US Embassy in Manila, Quezon City Hall, Cabanatuan City Hall and Bank of Philippine Islands as well as visits to Nueva Ecija and Bulacan for immersion experience.
Filipino-American youth participants to the Immersion Program come from five states in the Midwest, i.e. Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio. This is a follow up to the first US Midwest YouLeaD Immersion Program held on 03-09 January 2019.
The 2nd US Midwest YouLead Immersion Program is a joint project of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, in cooperation with Bank of the Philippine Islands and International Society of Filipinos in Finance and Accounting. The Program aims to encourage Fil-Am youth to discover their Filipino roots and heritage and at the same time, becoming future leaders of the Community. END
