Brunei bowing tournament1

16 April 2014 - A bowling tournament organized by the Embassy of the United States of America for members of the diplomatic community was held at the Megastrike Bowling Center in the Airport Mall in capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, on April 12.

Members of the Philippine Embassy came in full force, led by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Nestor Z. Ochoa and Madame Mayie E. Ochoa, as bowling is one of the more popular pastimes of members of the Filipino Community in Brunei.

The Philippine Embassy regularly fields a team in tournaments hosted by the Filipino Bowlers Association in Brunei. It came as no surprise that members of the Philippine Embassy figured prominently during the awarding ceremonies:

·         Attaché Marden Garduque, the Embassy’s Finance Officer, garnered the highest individual score;

·         Ms. Marivic Rutor, SSS representative, was a member of the team with the highest team score; and

·         Mr. Ruel Barreto, local hire, garnered the highest individual score per game.
