LOS ANGELES 06 January 2020 — Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz received Davao del Norte Governor, Edwin I. Jubahib on 19 December 2019.

During the call, the Governor shared the priorities of his administration, which include the production of export-quality agricultural products; tourism promotion; and generation of employment opportunities, among others.

Gov. Jubahib presented some of the products that Davao are known for such as a bag made of tinalak fiber, banana chips, turmeric powder, and coconut sugar. The Governor also discussed Davao’s tourist attractions and his office’s efforts in preserving their beauty.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to promote trade and generate jobs in Mindanao, Consul General Cruz immediately set a meeting between the Governor and the Vice President of H.C. Foods Co., Mr. Timothy Sher. The company is one of the largest Asian food distributors / importers in California.

Governor Jubahib and Mr. Sher met at the Consul General’s office on 20 December 2019. They explored potential partnership in bringing products from Davao to the U.S. market. The Governor ascertained that his office would tap company owners, including the medium-sized entrepreneurs, to study the U.S. regulations and documentary requirements in product importation.

Consul General Cruz assured Gov. Jubahib and Mr. Sher that the Consulate General will extend appropriate assistance to facilitate the partnership.

Davao del Norte is a province in Mindanao and is known as the “banana capital of the Philippines.” END
