ASEAN Women Circle of Los Angeles Celebrates the Year with Flavorful Filipino Food

LOS ANGELES 06 January 2020 — The ASEAN Women Circle of Los Angeles (AWCLA), led by its 2019 Chairperson and spouse of Philippine Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz, Madame Catherine Amon Cruz, held its year-end general meeting and get-together party at the Filipino restaurant, Noypitz Bar & Grill in Downtown Los Angeles on 12 December 2019.

In her remarks, Madam Cruz expressed her appreciation for being given the privilege to carry the flag of AWCLA for a year. 

She also commended AWCLA officers’ and members’ unwavering support and commitment that led to the success of the 2019 AWCLA Fundraising Bazaar and Cultural Day. 

The Bazaar, which was AWCLA’s most important project in pursuit of its charitable advocacies, was held at the Philippine Consul General’s official residence in Arcadia, California on 24 August 2019. 

The get-together also became a venue to showcase the vibrant flavors of Filipino cuisine as the AWCLA ladies were treated to a sumptuous feast of Filipino dishes, such as kare-kare, bulalo, crispy pata, halo-halo, among others.

AWCLA was established on 08 May 1991, drawing inspiration from the ideals of ASEAN friendship and unity.  It is a socio-cultural association of women composed of the spouses of the heads of mission, female members of the ASEAN consular corps and the ASEAN community in Los Angeles.  It aims to promote awareness about ASEAN as an organization, and foster people-to-people with the United States contacts through various activities.
