PH Delegation and Embassy Officials Meet with His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain

BAHRAIN 08 January 2020 — A delegation from the Philippines led by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Special Envoy to Tunisia, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kingdom of Bahrain Robert Eric A. Borje and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola visited the Kingdom of Bahrain from 25 to 28 December 2019 to for a special Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) mission for Filipinos in the Kingdom.
One of the highlights during the said visit was the audience with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain on 25 December 2019 at the Safriya Palace. During the call, Special Envoy Borje conveyed to HM King Hamad the greetings from President Duterte, particularly with respect to congratulating Bahrain for recently celebrating its 48th National Day as well as the 20th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad’s accession to the throne.
He also conveyed President Duterte’s invitation for His Majesty King Hamad to visit the Philippines in order that the Philippines may reciprocate the generosity shown by His Majesty King Hamad to the Philippine delegation during President Duterte’s visit to Bahrain in 2017.
Special Envoy Borje also praised Bahrain’s leadership position in introducing visionary reforms for the advancement of the rights and protection of migrant workers. He lauded His Majesty King Hamad for his wise leadership that allows Bahrain to be a beacon of hope in the region.
For his part, His Majesty King Hamad conveyed his well wishes for the health of President Duterte and praised the strong bilateral ties between the Philippines and Bahrain. His Majesty King Hamad also acknowledged the signing between the two countries of an agreement that established a High Joint Commission that could be utilized for the discussion of common areas of interest.
Special Envoy Borje also relayed information to His Majesty King Hamad regarding the Embassy’s Oplan Kabataan Program and thanked His Majesty King Hamad for the assistance being extended by various government agencies in Bahrain to the Embassy for the program. He relayed that two children will be brought home by the ATN Mission Team as the first beneficiaries of the Embassy’s program. His Majesty King Hamad conveyed his unwavering support for the program and gave instructions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to extend all the necessary support and assistance that they can provide for the success of the program.
