PH Consul General to Chicago Joins 2020 Chicago Travel, Adventure Show

CHICAGO 10 February 2020 – The Philippines, through the Department of Tourism Office in New York (PDOT-NY) and with the support of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, participated in the 2020 Chicago Travel & Adventure Show at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois from 08 to 09 February 2020.

Philippine Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin graced the event and visited the Philippine booth on 8 February 2020. She was welcomed by PDOT-NY Senior Tourism Operations Officer Luz Alquisola-Navarro. Also present at the booth were travel agency operators based in the Midwest.

The Philippine booth bannered “It’s more fun in the Philippines!” and showcased world-class tourism destinations in its tropical paradise, a majestic archipelago of 7,641 islands with pristine white-sand beaches, chocolate hills, lively fiestas, world-class resorts, delicious seafood and fruits, fascinating culture, and warm and smiling people. The booth also promoted the Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour to be held in Manila, Iloilo, and Boracay on 19 to 26 July 2020.

The PDOT-NY delegation led by Tourism Attache Francisco Hilario M. Lardizabal, together with PDOT-NY Senior Tourism Operations Officer Luz Alquisola-Navarro, paid a courtesy call on Consul General Jamoralin at the Consulate on 10 February 2020. The discussion focused on the priorities and projects for the year, including the Philippine Wild Reef exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium and a possible tourism roadshow in Chicago in the second half of 2020.

The Philippine Consulate hosted a meeting on 11 February  2020 with Chicago based tour operators to brief them on the upcoming Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour in the Philippines.

Dubbed as America’s Favorite Travel Show, the 2020 Chicago Travel & Adventure Show is an annual showcase of global tourism destinations and travel opportunities. Close to 30,000 attendees chosen from thousands of vacation options and discoverer from more than 250 destinations from around the world participated in the event. END
