PH Consulate General in Chicago Joins PIWC 2020 Kick Off, Induction Ceremony of New Board of Trustees and Officers

CHICAGO 17 January 2020 — The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago graced the Kick-Off and Induction Ceremony of the Philippine Independence Week Committee (PIWC) Board of Trustees and Officers held at the Holiday Inn North Shore in Skokie, Illinois on 11 January 2020.

On behalf of Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin, Consul Ryan Francis D. Gener administered the oath of office of the 2020 PIWC Officers led by Ms. Jetjet Gruezo as Overall Chairman and the Board of Trustees Executive Officers. Delivering an inspirational message as guest of honor, Consul Gener congratulated the PIWC for its continuing mission to celebrate Philippine Independence through its yearly Independence Day gala dinner event and other relevant activities. He also thanked PIWC for joining “Paskuhan sa Chicago 2019” as an active co-organizer and participant.

Consul Gener also shared that Consul General Jamoralin went to Manila, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija to join twelve Filipino-American youth leaders for the Second US Midwest Youth Leaders Immersion Program on 3-9 January 2020.

Consul Gener also invited the 300 participants to join the upcoming 2020 Very Important Pinoy Tour (VIP Tour) on 19-26 July 2020 in Manila, Iloilo and Boracay. He also encouraged all Filipinos, including dual citizens, to participate in the ongoing overseas voters’ registration and exercise their right to vote in May 2022.

The event also featured the parade of Beauty Queens and Guest Queens who wore traditional Filipiniana and regional ethnic attire. END
