YANGON 16 December 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon personnel led by Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr. joined the ASEAN Bowling Tournament held on 24 November 2019 at the Royal Sportainment Complex in Yangon.
The Tournament was co-organized by the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ASEAN Missions in Yangon under the chairmanship of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand. A total of 11 teams headed by either the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors, their spouses, or the Deputies of the Embassies of the ASEAN Member States competed against each other in the tournament. Each team was composed of one to two personnel from each Embassy.
A prize-giving ceremony and lunch reception was held immediately after the tournament as the culminating activity for all the ASEAN sporting events held in 2019 during Thailand’s Chairmanship year. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the ASEAN Bowling Tournament, ASEAN Badminton Tournament, and the ASEAN Table Tennis Tournament. A symbolic hand-over ceremony from Thailand to Vietnam of the ASEAN Chairmanship was held after the Bowling Tournament.
Overall, the Philippine Embassy was awarded five trophies for individual category in the ASEAN Bowling Tournament and group categories of the ASEAN Badminton Tournament and ASEAN Bowling Tournament. END
