Glendale City Officials Joins the Filipino-American Community of Glendale in the 2019 Filipino-American History Month Celebration

GLENDALE 19 December 2019 — In celebration of Filipino-American History Month in October 2019, the Filipino-American Business Association of Glendale (FABAG) organized a cultural activity, which was held at the Incarnation Community Center on 26 October 2019.
The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles was represented by Vice Consul Rainier J. Casis and Cultural Officer Maria Dolores C. Sales.
The event was also graced by local officials of the City of Glendale headed by Mayor Ara Narajan, Glendale Community College and Glendale Unified School District, as well as representatives from the offices of Senator Anthony Portantino, Los Angeles County Supervisor Representative Jason Maruca and State of California Assembly member Laura Friedman.
The city officials present during the event awarded Certificates of Recognition to FABAG, led by its President, Joy Quiza, for the Association’s remarkable contributions in mainstream American society, particularly in the City of Glendale.
It may be noted that the City of Glendale also issued on 22 October 2019 a Proclamation recognizing the Filipino-American History Month in October 2019 and the activities being organized by FABAG to celebrate this event.
Vice Consul Casis, in his remarks, commended FABAG’s commitment to promote Philippine culture, and organizing activities aimed at educating and enriching the community.
The celebration also featured cultural performances from the Manahan Musika and Malaya Filipino-American Dance Arts. Fil-Am fashion designer, Carl Andrada, also impressed the guests with a fashion show featuring his Filipino-inspired creations, which were made from natural and unconventional materials. END
