PH Consulate General in Chicago, Filipino-American Community in Chicago Celebrates “Paskuhan sa Chicago 2019 and Simbang Gabi”

CHICAGO 02 January 2020 — The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and Filipino American community celebrated the “2nd Paskuhan sa Chicago and Simbang Gabi” on 14 December 2019 at the St. Hilary Parish Gym, Chicago, Illinois.
Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin congratulated the Planning Committee, community leaders and guests for their commitment and dedication to the success of this year’s 2nd Paskuhan sa Chicago after a successful launch 1st Paskuhan sa Chicago on 15 December 2018 at Seafood City, Chicago. She hoped that it will become a yearly event for the Filipino community in Illinois a unique activity to bring together all Filipino-American organizations in Illinois. Consul General Jamoralin praised the commitment of the community leaders to spend their weekends planning for the event. “Whether big or small, each organization has a place on the table”, remarked Consul General Jamoralin.
More than 350 Filipino-Americans attended this year’s “Paskuhan sa Chicago 2019”. The program started with the judging of Parol contest, followed by a cultural entertainment program, traditional “Noche Buena” with sumptuous Filipino food, singing of Christmas carols, games, and awarding of door prizes. The celebration was capped by a Holy Mass (Simbang Gabi) at St. Hilary Church.
The “Paskuhan sa Chicago” is presented by the Philippine Consulate General in partnership with the following Filipino-American community organizations which include, International Society of Filipinos in Finance and Accounting (led by Paskuhan Co-Chair Jan Paul Ferrer), Philippine Certified Public Accountant of Greater Chicago, Filipinos of Saint Gregory, Gawad Kalinga, Pilipino American Senior Association in Chicago, Filipino-American Grandparents Association in Chicago, Joy Dance Club, Filipino Young Leaders Program, National Federation of Filipino-American Association-Illinois, Filipino-American National Historical Society, Filipino-American Historical Society of Chicago, Philippine American Cultural Foundation, Philippine Engineers and Scientists Organization, Santacruzan Group, JDC Rainbow Foundation, SamaSama Project, Knights of Rizal, Ladies of Rizal, Zamboanga del Norte Association of Illinois, Divine Mercy, St. Hillary Church, ILAMID, Philippine Independence Week Committee, University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Greater Chicago, Philippine Nurses Association in Illinois, Comstock Realty, Filipino-American Council of Greater Chicago, Philippine Medical Association in Chicago, and Filipino-American Lions Club Chicago and Black Adobo Productions.
The event was held in partnership with TFC, SamaSama Project, Opulence, Megaworld, Seafood City, Paskuhan 2019 Parol Committee, Creative Impression Plus, Rev. Pascual and Mrs. Lydia Tyco, Ladies of Rizal, Dely Villalon and an anonymous benefactor.
The Consul General also invited the Filipino-American community to join the Very Important Pinoy Tour on 19-26 July 2020 in Manila, Iloilo and Boracay. Consul General Jamoralin also encouraged all Filipinos and dual citizens to register for the upcoming overseas absentee voting registration starting on 16 December 2019 and to exercise their right to vote during the national elections on 09 May 2022.
