PH Embassy in Mexico Participates in ASEAN Bazaar

MEXICO 19 December 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Mexico, together with the four other resident ASEAN Embassies, participated in the ASEAN Bazaar on 07 December 2019 at the Embassy grounds of Indonesia in Mexico City.
The ASEAN Bazaar is one of the activities organized by the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City as part of its efforts to bring the regional organization closer to the Mexican people.
The day-long event, which showcased the rich and diverse culture of each of the participating Embassies, was attended by approximately 500 individuals who had the opportunity to sample the region´s varied culinary offerings, as well as to purchase traditional artisanal products. It also served as a venue for tourism promotion, with the Embassies promoting their popular tourist destinations.
The Embassy proudly featured artisanal products from all over the country such as weaved bags, scarves, coasters, pillow covers, pearls, and capiz containers. In addition to Philippine handicrafts, the Embassy also sold Filipino food, including chicken adobo, biko, turon, pili tarts, chocnut, dried mangoes, and chocolate-covered mangoes.
For its cultural presentation, the Embassy tapped a local group based in Mexico City who specializes in Arnis for a brief demonstration on the basic movements and techniques of this Filipino martial art. END
