MANADO 18 December 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Manado joyfully joined the nation in launching the 500-day countdown to the 2021 Quincentennial Commemoration in the Philippines held on 14 December 2019.
The Consulate lighted the Philippine lantern in the façade of the Consulate symbolizing the freedom, greatness, and pre-colonial heritage of the Philippines.
The event was appreciated by the Indonesian community in Manado. The Indonesian offices also shared their excitement as they see the lantern display signaling not only the Christmas season but the 2021 Quincentennial Commemoration in the Philippines highlighting the first circumnavigation of the world, Victory of Mactan, and other related events.
After the lighting, the Philippine Consulate General in Manado team loudly and proudly sang the 2021 Quincentennial Commemoration theme song entitled “Bagani”. The Consulate General team was inspired by the lyrics of the song which served as a reminder for each personnel to reexamine what transpired in 1521 shaping our nation to what it is today. END
