PH Embassy in Moscow Collaborates with Turkish Airlines to Atrract More Russian Tourists

MOSCOW 19 December 2019 – Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta and Turkish Airlines Marketing Director for Russia Mahmut Poyraz agreed to work closely together to promote the Philippines as a destination for Russian tourists.  At their meeting on 16 December 2019 at the Philippine Embassy, Ambassador Sorreta and Poyraz discussed ways to promote the Philippines to the Russian tourist market.

“Many Russians are already flying on Turkish Airlines and Istanbul is an important hub.  The challenge is to encourage them to venture to the Philippines to enjoy our world class tourist destinations,” Ambassador Sorreta said.

Among the ways discussed were the co-hosting of a business breakfast on the Philippines, Turkish Airlines joining the promotion activities of the Embassy like its annual Philippine Street Fair, and bringing Russian tourism professionals, influencers and bloggers to experience the Philippines.

“Turkish Airlines is a leader in the airline industry and they have many promotions that are extremely attractive. One promotion allows Russian tourists flying to the Philippines to enjoy free tours of Istanbul,” said Ambassador Sorreta. “We are certainly looking forward to working with Turkish Airlines here in Russia to increase the flow of tourists to the Philippines,” the Ambassador added.

They also discussed special programs of Turkish Airlines to encourage Filipinos to travel to Russia, particularly for Filipino students.
