QATAR 06 April 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Qatar, together with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), repatriated 55 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in three batches from 02 to 04 April 2020. These OFWs are female wards who have been accommodated at the Migrant Workers and other Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC).

The repatriation was held in close coordination with Qatar’s Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) that defrayed the cost of repatriation tickets of the OFWs, as well as with the Search and Follow-up Department (SFD) which facilitated the travel clearances for overstaying, absconding, and other immigration issues.

The OFWs were sent home via Qatar Airways, the only airline that remains operational to service outbound flights from Doha to Manila.

The Embassy and POLO stand ready to provide appropriate assistance to those who may wish to be repatriated in the midst of this global pandemic. END
