23 April 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok launched its Culinary Diplomacy initiative in Thailand on April 16 with the screening of a series of six (6) short documentary films featuring selected dishes from top restaurants and culinary destinations in the Philippines. The documentary films were featured in the Thai television show entitled “Thailand Corridors,” on National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) Channel 11. The show was hosted by veteran TV host Mrs. Kusuma Yodhasmutr.
The documentary series were shot in location in Bangkok, Thailand, and in the National Capital Region (Manila, Pasig City, Fort Bonifacio Global City, Makati City, Quezon City, and Pasay City), Tagaytay City (Cavite Province), and San Pablo City (Quezon Province).
Some of the dishes featured in the documentary film series are lumpiang sariwa, halo-halo, pansit palabok, puto bumbong at bibingka, binakol soup, kalderetang kambing, traditional Filipino barbeque and streetfood (sorbetero ice cream and fishball). Tourist destinations in Quezon Province, Tagaytay, Cavite, and National Capital Region (Manila, Pasig City, Fort Bonifacio Global City, Makati City, Quezon City and Pasay City) were also featured.
