SAN FRANCISCO 29 April 2020 – To send a message of love and strength in tribute to all of the frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco participated in the community live singalong of the iconic song “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” with Tony Bennett, the City Government of San Francisco, San Francisco residents, Californians, and everyone else abroad via social media on 25 April 2020.

The live singalong #SingOutSF, a brainchild of California State and San Francisco City and County Director of Protocol Charlotte Shultz, drew families, communities, and individuals from around the world to go to their balconies, backyards, and houses with their laptops and smartphones, to sing the iconic song live from the comfort of their homes and respective places.

“The live stream singing of the Tony Bennett’s classic, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco, as Mayor London Breed said, is a chance for us all to recognize how connected we are to one another, not just here in San Francisco, but all over the world,” said Philippine Consul General to San Francisco and current Dean of the Consular Corps of San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr.

Consul General Bensurto joined the singing from the official residence in San Francisco while 10 representatives from the Consulate, who donned Filipiniana attire and practiced social distancing, sang the classic song at the Philippine Center on Sutter St. in downtown San Francisco. Consulate personnel from the Bay Area also joined in the singing from their homes.
