PH Embassy in Tripoli, IOM Assist Filcom Affected by COVID-19, Facilitate Repatriation of Filipinos in Algeria

The Philippine Embassy in Tripoli and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Libya work together in responding to the calls for assistance from Filipinos affected by the ongoing conflict in Libya and the outbreak of the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic on 30 April 2020. During the past several days, the Embassy has been delivering boxes containing IOM provisions to distressed Filipinos who have lost their jobs or have not been receiving their salaries and allowances for the past several months. (Above Photos) ALGERIA REPATRIATION. A second batch of 61 Filipinos working at an oil refinery project in Algeria are on their way home after they were repatriated on 30 April 2020 the Japanese engineering group JGC, which also flew home the first batch of 121 Filipino workers earlier in the week. The repatriation was coordinated by the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli, which is also in touch with Filipinos working for several Korean construction companies in Algeria who have also expressed their desire to return to the Philippines due to the outbreak of the coronavirus there.
