Australian-based Filipino Student Leaders Initiate Campaign to Provide PPEs to Health Workers in PH

CANBERRA 04 May 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega met with members of FilOz Association of Student Councils (ASCEND) on a video conference on 29 April 2020 to discuss the latter’s Filos4Heroes campaign to provide PPEs to frontliners in the Philippines.

“We know you are facing many challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We appreciate that amidst these challenges, you chose to come together and initiate Filos4Heroes to raise funds for purchasing personal protective equipment for health frontliners in the Philippines,” Ambassador De La Vega said.

FilOz ASCEND also provided a briefing to the Philippine Ambassador on their current efforts to bring together Filipino students organizations all over Australia to ensure there is representation from every State and Territory and their vision for a Filipino Australian Student Leaders Summit in the future.

FilOz ASCEND is currently composed of the Filipino Student Society Tasmania, Filipino Student Council Victoria (FASTCO), Filipino Student Council of New South Wales (FSC NSW), ANU Filipino Association (ANUFA), Queensland Filipino Youth Association (QLD FYA) and Adelaide University Filipino Club.
