PH Ambassador to Bahrain Meets MOI and MOFA Heads to Discuss Plight of Filipinos in the Time of Pandemic

MANAMA 07 May 2020 — Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver attended a meeting with Bahraini Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and Bahraini Foreign MInister Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on 04 May 2020.

The meeting, attended also by the Ambassadors of Pakistan, Bangladesh and India,  was convened to convey the dedication of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain to ensure the safety of all residents in the Kingdom and to provide them with the support and care needed at this time.

The Ministers reiterated their commitment to the enforcement of precautionary measures against COVID-19, including the need to reduce the number of expats in overcrowded accommodations by relocating them to prevent the spread of the infection.

For his part, Ambassador Ver congratulated Bahrain on its effective handling of the COVID19 crisis, keeping the number of cases in check and providing free medical attention to all in need – both the Bahraini nationals and expatriates. He added that the Embassy has been disseminating all directives to the Filipino community on how to protect themselves and get treatment if needed.  END
