25 April 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou donated 150 books entitled “A Selection of Philippine Folk Tales” to Changsha Experimental School, Hunan Province on April 04.

 

Philippine Consul General in Guangzhou Raly L. Tejada was enthusiastically welcomed by the students, school officials and Foreign Affairs Office of Changsha Municipal People’s Department. The delegation was then invited for a dialogue where both sides expressed hope for greater cooperation and mutual support. This was followed by a simple book turnover ceremony at the school’s multi - purpose hall.  

 

Student representatives of Changsha Experimental School then handed a painting specially made by art students to Consul General Tejada as a token of their appreciation. School teachers who taught Chinese in the Philippines for a year also spoke briefly about their wonderful experience in the country.

The Consul General expressed his appreciation, pledging the Philippine Consulate General’s support and cooperation to the school and Changsha City. He concluded by stating that China and the Philippines have more commonalities than differences and hopes that his visit, the first by a Philippine Consul General will help foster closer relations between two countries.

                                                                                                                       

 

The ceremony ended with the ceremonial hand over of the books to the school principal Ms. Liu Fanglan of Changsha Experimental school. END
