OSLO 21 May 2020Philippine Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia congratulated the Kingdom of Norway on its 206th Constitution Day as she signed the congratulatory book on 17 May 2020 at the Royal Palace. Ambassador Batoon-Garcia expressed her appreciation for the strengthened cooperation between the governments and between the people of the Philippines and Norway, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippines and Norway have enjoyed diplomatic ties for 72 years, with formal establishment of relations on 02 March 1948. The two countries have closely cooperated in bilateral and multilateral efforts to ensure peace, gender equality, and the protection of democratic values.

The Philippines and Norway have a long history of economic cooperation including in the maritime sector. Through the years, people-to-people exchanges between the Philippines and Norway have increased with a significant number of Filipino seafarers, healthcare workers, and engineers employed in Norway or by Norwegian companies.
