CANBERRA 27 May 2020 – In celebration of the Philippines-Australia Friendship Day, Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega congratulated the three Filipino graduates of Carnegie Mellon University Australia at the university’s virtual commencement held on 15 May 2020.

The Filipino graduates of Carnegie Mellon University Australia were Ms. Kate Ortega, Master of Science in Public Policy and Management, an Australian Awards Scholar and works at the Department of Budget and Management; Ms. Yvette Solas, Master of Science in Public Policy and Management, a scholar of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and full-time faculty of the University of Iloilo; and Ms. Rhea Valbuena, Advanced Certificate in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, an Executive Director of the School of Computing and Information Technologies at Asia Pacific College.

Ms. Ortega was among the students to deliver remarks on behalf of the graduates who shared experiences in studying at Carnegie Mellon University Australia.

Ambassador De La Vega said that Filipino international students in Australia are a major part of the strong and enduring Philippines-Australia Comprehensive Partnership. She expressed her best wishes to the new graduates and wished them well on the next chapter of their personal and professional lives. END
