PH Consulate General in Los Angeles Participates in Asia Society’s COVID-19: The Implications for Real Estate on Both Sides of the Pacific

LOS ANGELES 28 May 2020 – The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles joined the Asia Society’s Zoom discussion on “COVID-19: The Implications for Real Estate on Both Sides of the Pacific,” a timely conversation on the “new normal” and the path towards recovery from the coronavirus pandemic on 21 May 2020.

Guests speakers were real estate experts with business operations across the Pacific rim, namely, Vincent H.S. Lo, Goodwin Gaw, Jaime Lee, Adriel Chan and Reon Roski.  The discussion was moderated by University of California Los Angeles Ziman Center for Real Estate Executive Director Tim Kawahara.

Insights on the “new normal” were anchored on the hope that governments will find the right balance between growing the economy and public safety.  While the path to global recovery may be long and difficult, the real estate industry on both sides of the Pacific maintains optimism especially on office and industrial spaces, and residential homes and smaller units in the urban core.

“There is hesitancy as opposed to gloom and doom, pause as opposed to total cancellations,” according to Jamison’s CEO Jaime Lee.

Over a thousand participants from the United States and countries across the Pacific joined the discussion, including the Consulate General’s Economic Officer, Rea G. Oreta and Information Officer, Mary Grace “Joss” Leaño.
