PH Consulate General in Los Angeles Supports DTI’s “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Webinar Series: Investing and Entrepreneurship in PH”
LOS ANGELES 28 May 2020 – The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles supported the staging by the Philippine Trade and Investment Centers (PTICs) in the United States, including PTIC-Los Angeles, of a webinar series under the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) program banner “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” (or TNK, which translates to “Program or Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood”).
The first of the series, entitled “Tips for our Kababayans in the U.S. on Investing and Entrepreneurship in the Philippines,” was held on 21 May 2020 with guest speakers Resident Financial Advisor of the Philippine cable TV program ANC on the Money Salve Duplito and Chairman and Senior Tax Advisor of the Asian Consulting Group Mon Abrea. The discussion was moderated by Senior Trade Representative Nicanor Bautista of PTIC-New York.
In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the United States of America Jose Manuel G. Romualdez congratulated PTIC representatives for initiating the program and being able take advantage of the “new normal” in pursuing Philippine trade and investments promotion.
Investment opportunities identified by the speakers in the advent of COVID-19 include investments in mutual funds, stocks, equity funds, bonds, real estate, and other types of pooled funds.
The speakers also took the opportunity to provide financial literacy and taxation advice to Filipino and Filipino-American entrepreneurs who may be interested in investing in the Philippines.
TNK is a flagship program of the DTI instituted for the realization of Ambisyon Natin 2040 and the Philippines’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Consul Rea G. Oreta and Information Officer Mary Grace “Joss” Leaño joined PTIC-Los Angeles’ Trade Commissioner Eric Elnar in representing the Consulate General in the webinar. END
