PH Consulate General in San Francisco Pilots Online Talk on FAQs, Features San Francisco
Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto hosts the “Tanong ni ConGen” online program shown live via Facebook.
San Francisco 03 June 2020 – Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. has spearheaded an online discussion via Zoom and Facebook Live to answer frequently asked questions on the Consulate’s Facebook page on 29 May 2020.
Called “Tanong ni ConGen,” the online program goes live on the Consulate’s official Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/PHinSF/ every Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. Pacific Time.
Consul General Bensurto asks the public’s commonly asked questions on consular matters, especially given the COVID-19 pandemic and Health Order No. C19-07e, which directs “all businesses, facility operators, and governmental agencies to continue the temporary closure.”
“This is our way of reaching out to our Filipino-American community. We would like to update them every step of the way until we gradually reopen and make available all our consular services,” said Consul General Bensurto. “I ask the public’s questions to our Consular officers and resource persons from the Filipino-American community, so the program “Tanong ni ConGen” or TNC, could also stand for Tanong ng Community,” he added.
According to Consul General Bensurto, aside from consular matters and advisories, TNC will also feature the other aspects of the Consulate’s work, including cultural diplomacy. The Consulate aims to reach out to the younger generations and “inspire them to take pride in their culture and heritage.”
The Consulate General abides by the shelter-in-place order while it continues to provide emergency consular services to Filipino Americans.
The Consulate has aired three episodes of TNC since 13 May 2020. The online talk featured Deputy Consul General Raquel Solano, Consul Vanessa Bago-Llona, Consul Jed Martin Llona, and Consul Dominic Xavier Imperial. Philippine Airlines Area Manager Delia Merano was on the program on 20 May 2020 to answer questions related to available PAL flights to Manila.
The program’s next episode via FB Live on 03 June 2020 will feature Integrated Bar of the Philippines Northern California president Atty. Flomy Diza and other IBP NorCal officers to discuss relevant U.S. immigration issues at the time of the pandemic. END
