CAIRO 08 June 2020 — The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Cairo pooled their resources and prepared food care packs for members of the Filipino community who were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Embassy sought the assistance of the different Filipino community organizations in identifying the beneficiaries.
Since 30 May 2020, the Embassy distributed about 50 food care packs to distressed members of the Filipino community in Egypt.
The packs include staples like canned goods, rice, noodles, sugar and other food items offered to distressed members of the community, including those who lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
This initiative came as many kababayans continue to reel from the economic impact as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Philippine Embassy in Cairo will continue to seek partners to ensure assistance to the most vulnerable members of the Filipino community. END
