PH Embassy in Yangon Commemorates Araw ng Kalayaan 2020

YANGON 15 June 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar commemorated Philippine Independence Day “Kalayaan 2020” with the theme “Tungo sa Bansang Malaya, Nagbabayanihan, at Ligtas” on 12 June 2020 virtually on Google Meet and Facebook Live.
The Embassy invited Filipinos in Myanmar to join the virtual celebration on Google Meet. The Embassy then broadcasted the virtual program simultaneously on Facebook Live. The program included the Philippine National Anthem; Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, a prayer led by Father Adam Dalac, OFM; and the reading of Independence Day Messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr.
The program culminated in the launch of the video created by the Embassy showing Filipinos in Myanmar celebrating Kalayaan 2020. The Filipinos who participated in the video belonged to various professions to show the diversity of the Filipino community in Myanmar. END
