PH Embassy in Singapore Honors Frontliners through Jollibee

SINGAPORE 15 June 2020 — In the spirit of Bayanihan, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore handed over on 10 June 2020 a total of 220 Jollibee meal packs for the frontline staff of the government-run Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTHS) in appreciation of their hard work and sacrifices in taking care of COVID-19 patients, including Filipinos.

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Joseph del Mar Yap accompanied by Consul General Adrian Bernie Candolada and Mr. Wilford Wong, handed over the meal packs to TTHS officials at the main entrance of the hospital.

Dr. Loh Shu Ching, Executive Director for the Division for Central Health of TTHS, led the hospital officials in welcoming Ambassador Yap. She was joined in by representatives of the Filipino hospital employees led by Dr. Maria Ormasa of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology.

TTHS employs more than 2,000 Filipino health care workers such as nurses, radiologists, pharmacists and doctors.

The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore led by Ambassador Yap and its partner agencies, such as the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Philippine Trade and Investment Centre, and the Office of the Defense Attaché, contributed their personal funds for the meal packs. 

Singapore is home to more than 200,000 Filipinos. As of 09 June 2020, 135 Filipinos in Singapore have been confirmed COVID-19 positive, 50 of whom are still under hospital treatment while 85 have been discharged. END
