PH Embassy in The Hague Celebrates 122nd Independence Day Tungo sa Bansang Malaya, Nagbababayanihan at Ligtas

THE HAGUE 16 June 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in The Hague celebrated the 122nd Anniversary of Philippine Independence in ceremonies honoring the country’s heroes, past and present, and renewing the personnel’s steadfast dedication in the service of the country and the Filipino people on 12 June 2020.

The Philippine Embassy led by Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda, commemorated the national day with the raising of the Philippine Flag, the singing of the national anthem and the delivery of the Independence Day Messages of President Rodrigo R. Duterte and Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. 

Ambassador Ledda commended all personnel for their resilience and unwavering commitment to duty despite the difficulties brought by the coronavirus pandemic.  He also conveyed in a video message his sincerest thanks to the Filipino community in the Netherlands for all their work, support and initiatives to help the country.  He cited their strong bayanihan spirit and fervent love for country and fellow Filipinos, undiminished by the coronavirus pandemic. He also acknowledged the Filipinos in the frontlines for their hard work and sacrifice and the Filipino community organizations for extending care and support for Filipinos in need.

The Embassy was also able to bring together Filipinos from all corners of the Kingdom of the Netherlands including those in Aruba, Sint Martin and Bonaire through video greetings, photos and virtual hugs and virtual toasts. In this virtual Independence Day gathering were posts from Filipino pioneers in the Netherlands and the Dutch Caribbean, frontline workers, families, students, all sending their greetings for an unprecedented united celebration of Philippine Independence Day.
