THE HAGUE 23 June 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in The Hague shares on its official webpage and Facebook the link to a free e-book “Jezus en Petrus bezoeken de Filipijnen” to mark the 159th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal. The e-book is a Dutch translation of another literary work of the national hero published by Mr. Gerald Arp of Arpenco Publishers, with a short preview in English.

The e-book was based on one of Dr. Rizal’s unfinished novels known under the title, “The Lord Gazes at the Philippine Islands.” This satire on the situation of the Philippines during the Spanish colonial period is included in Rizal’s Prose, a collection of his writings published by the Jose Rizal National Centennial Commission in 1962.

Mr. Arp also released his Dutch translations of Dr. Rizal’s novels Noli Me Tangere (Raak Me Niet Aan) in June 2019 and El Filibusterismo (De Revolutie) in February 2020.

The following are the links to the Embassy’s webpage and Facebook, respectively: https://thehaguepe.dfa.gov.ph/ and https://www.facebook.com/PHinTheNetherlands/. END
