PH Embassy in Paris Commemorates the 159th Birth Anniversary of PH National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal

PARIS 24 June 2020 – In commemoration of the 159th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippine Embassy in Paris held a flag-raising ceremony followed by the offering of flowers in front of the bust of Rizal at the Embassy grounds on 19 June 2020.
The following day, Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa Lazaro and Philippine Police Attaché Col. Romeo Macapaz participated in a similar commemoration, organized by the Order of the Knights of Rizal (Area of France) at the Place José Rizal in the 9th arrondissement (district) of Paris.
Though this commemorations were smaller following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ambassador expressed her belief that Rizal’s June 19 birth anniversary remains forever in the active consciousness of the Filipinos in France. “We join our kababayans in their fervent wish to soon erect a Rizal sculpture at Place José Rizal to serve as a place of pride in Paris, reminding us and others of the essence of what it is to be Filipino and what our people are capable of achieving,” the Ambassador said.END
