ASEAN Nairobi Committee Donates to Kenya COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund

NAIROBI 08 June 2020 – The ASEAN Nairobi Committee (ANC), composed of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, in solidarity and in support of the Kenyan government’s efforts against COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in alleviating the hardship of the Kenyan people, donated 280,000 Kenyan shillings to the "Kenya COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund," through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya on 05 June 2020.
The sum was raised from the charity bazaar at the 4th ASEAN Festival held on 08 September 2019 at the Village Market, during the Philippine Chairmanship of the ASEAN Nairobi Committee.
Due to precautions observed by the MFA to contain COVID-19, the donation was presented by Indonesian Ambassador Soehardjono Sastromihardjo, as Chairman of the ASEAN Nairobi Committee and on behalf of ASEAN member countries to Director of Asia and Australasia Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Kenya (MFA) Lindsay Kiptiness.
