PH Honorary Consul General to Aleppo Calls On Health Director of Aleppo

ALEPPO 30 March 2020 — Philippine Honorary Consul to Aleppo Wassim Nanaa called twice on Aleppo Health Director Dr. Ziad Al-Haj Taha on 03 and 18 March 2020. 

Consul General Nanaa checked with Dr. Taha if there are any COVID-19 cases in Aleppo, particularly Filipino citizens and the latter assured the Consul General that there were no COVID-19 cases among Filipinos nor Syrians in Aleppo.

Philippine Honorary Consulate in Aleppo monitors the COVID-19 status in Aleppo and adopts anti-COVID measures for the Filipino community such as keeping in touch with them constantly,  providing them with instructions on how to stay safe, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPEs) such as masks and gloves, advising them to avoid crowded places and encouraging them to stay home to reduce risk of exposure.

Philippine Honorary Consulate in Aleppo likewise assured the readiness of the Consulate 24/7 to assist Filipinos in case they suffered any health issues or COVID-19 symptoms during the pandemic.  The Consulate General continues to act on requests for OFWs repatriation to the Philippines.  END
