PH Embassy in Damascus Commemorates 159th Birth Anniversary of Rizal
PHOTO: On the occasion of the 159th birth anniversary of the Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, the Embassy of the Philippines in Damascus commemorated the event by conducting a floral offering, short lecture and recitation of poems of Dr. Rizal on 19 June 2020 at the Embassy’s Filipino Workers’ Resource Center (FWRC). A total of 50 wards of the FWRC attended the event.
The Embassy’s Cultural Officer and Housemother, Ms. Kathleen S. Llarena gave a short lecture on Rizal’s life, particularly his eight most important literary works. FWRC wards recited Dr. Rizal’s poems “Sa Aking Mga Kabata” and “Mi Ultimo Adios”. Dr. Rizal’s “Kundiman” was also sung during the celebration. (Damascus PE photo)
