THE HAGUE 06 July 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands assisted a total of 392 overseas Filipinos in going home to the Philippines by arranging a repatriation flight with KLM which left on 03 July 2020 from Amsterdam to Manila. This included 367 seafarers, three land-based workers, 10 stranded tourists, seven au pairs, two students and three other returning Filipinos.
Due to the daily limit of inbound passengers allowed to enter the Philippines, many seafarers are stranded in different ports around the world, including Amsterdam and Rotterdam and the neighboring ports of Antwerp and Hamburg. The same is true with regard to tourists, students, au pairs and other returning Filipinos whose flights to Manila were cancelled a couple of times.
After receiving several requests for assistance to go home, the Embassy took the initiative to arrange with KLM a repatriation flight to Manila. Approval for the flight was obtained from government authorities through the assistance of the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs and Intelligence and Security Unit.
