HONOLULU 02 July 2020 – The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu launched #FilipinoTakeoutTuesday on 30 June 2020 to help local restaurants that have been greatly affected by the temporary closure of businesses and the drop in tourism in Hawaii. Many restaurants in Hawaii are now experiencing tight cashflows. Some face the possibility of permanent closure. Through the recently launched initiative of the Consulate, companies and organizations are invited to patronize local food establishments and support takeout of Filipino food every Tuesday or at least once every week.
Some individuals and organizations, including the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, have already expressed their support for the #FilipinoTakeoutTuesday Project. Interested stakeholders may get in touch with the Economic Section of the Consulate through their email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., in order to be included in the list of partners in the said initiative.
The Consulate is currently updating its database of food establishments offering Filipino food. Local restaurants and other Filipino-owned enterprises are encouraged to contact the Consulate to be included in the list of restaurants, which will be promoted as part of the #FilipinoTakeoutTuesday campaign.
