PH Embassy Participates in the ASEAN Committee in the Hague Webinar on COVID-19
Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda with Minister and Consul General Lolita B. Capco at the Philippine Embassy for the ASEAN Committee in the Hague (ACTH) webinar on COVID-19 Pandemic Mitigation in ASEAN.
THE HAGUE 13 July 2020 — Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda delivered a presentation on the Philippines’ situation on the COVID-19 pandemic at the ASEAN Committee in the Hague (ACTH) webinar titled, “COVID-19 Pandemic Mitigation in ASEAN: Lessons Learned and Potential Cooperation with the Netherlands and the European Union,” spearheaded by the Embassy of Indonesia in the Hague on 10 July 2020.
Ambassador Ledda reported on the Philippine Government’s committed efforts on three priority areas, namely, health response and capacity building, social amelioration programs and resource management and strategic communications, to address the pandemic. Meanwhile, beyond the country’s borders, he informed the webinar on the repatriation of more than 70,386 Filipino overseas that required coordination and cooperation between the Philippine authorities, the Philippine Foreign Service and foreign governments and foreign airlines. He spoke also on the Philippines’ opening of a “Green Zone Area for Seafarers” to assist seafarers, which is welcomed by the shipping industry in the Netherlands.

Oscar Primadi, Thai Ambassador to the Netherlands Eksiri Pintaruchi, Vietnamese General Department of Preventive Medicine Director General Dang Quang Tan, Regional Consultant (RIVM) Netherlands Hans Beks, Vietnamese Director General of International Organizations Mr. Do Hung, Dutch Strategic Advisor for Asia and Oceania Mark Versteden, WHO Senior Adviser on Gender and Youth Dr. Diah Saminarsih, and Malaysian Vice Chair of Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) Dr. Rachmawati Hussein, and member of the Advisory Board of the United Nations Central Emergency Response Funds.
ASEAN students in the Netherlands, including from the Philippines, actively participated in the webinar which was streamed live on Youtube. Other guests to the webinar included MFA officials, academe (Groningen University and Leiden University) and other ASEAN nationals in the Netherlands. END
