PH Consul General Virtually Meets with India’s New Consul General to San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO 14 July 2020 – India’s newly arrived Consul General to San Francisco TV Nagendra Prasad called on Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. virtually via Zoom on 09 July 2020.

Consul General Prasad officially assumed his new position last month. He had previously served as India’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan.

Despite the difficult circumstances concerning the pandemic, Consul General Prasad expressed appreciation to the Consul General Bensurto, Jr. for the warm welcome extended to him. He noted that the virtual call via Zoom is highly unusual, but would likely be part of the new normal, adding that most of his engagements since his arrival have been done virtually, including his meeting with the Indian community in his jurisdiction.  

Consul General Prasad said that India, like many countries throughout the world, has been experiencing challenging times due to the pandemic. There are bright spots, however, in that the country’s cases per capita is still relatively low and that the recovery rate for those who have been affected is 62%.  

As head of the San Francisco Consular Corps (SFCC), Consul General Bensurto invited Consul General Prasad to participate in the activities of the SFCC as soon as the situation normalizes.  The former also informed the latter that his spouse may join the League of San Francisco Consular Corps (LSFCC), headed by its president Mrs. Mariza S. Bensurto, which provides support and organizes activities for the families of the Consular Corps. END
