PH Embassy in Hanoi Facilitates Screening of Filipino Film "Women of the Weeping River"
HANOI 24 July 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Hanoi, led by Chargé d' Affaires Paul Vincent Uy, and members of the Filipino community attended the special screening of the Filipino film titled, "Women of the Weeping River" on 21 July 2020 at the National Cinema Center in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The critically acclaimed movie is the Philippine entry to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Film Week 2020 organized by Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as part of Vietnam's ASEAN Chairmanship this 2020. The festival runs from 18 to 26 July 2020 in three major cities, namely: Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh.
"Women of the Weeping River" tells a story of two women in a remote Muslim community who confront an escalating blood feud and reach deep into themselves in the hopes of undoing the feud stretching back generations.
A total of nine films from other ASEAN member states are also showcased during the film festival. END
