YANGON 24 July 2020 – Ambassador-designate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Lindamulage Nalim Kumar de Silva paid an introductory call on Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr. on 21 July 2020 at the Philippine Embassy in Yangon.

The Ambassadors discussed how Myanmar has proactively taken actions to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Ambassador Kapunan shared his experiences and learnings during his stay in Myanmar for the past three years. Ambassador De Silva expressed that he looked forward to having a fruitful posting in Myanmar. 

Prior to his appointment to Myanmar, Ambassador de Silva worked as a Professor in Mathematics at the University of Kelaniya and University of Colombo. He is a member of the International Astronomical Union, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science. END
