PH Ambassador to Austria Joins Fellow G77 Chairs Virtual Meeting

VIENNA 28 July 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative Maria Cleofe R. Natividad participated in a Virtual Meeting of the Chairpersons of the Group of 77 Chapters in Vienna, Geneva, New York, and Rome on 21 July 2020. Ambassador Natividad chairs the Vienna Chapter of G77, which is the largest coalition of developing countries promoting their collective interests.
In her remarks, Ambassador Natividad gave an overview of the situation and status of the work in Vienna, particularly on advancing G77’s advocacies amidst COVID-19-related challenges. She reported that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), and United Nations (UN) Offices in Vienna have relentlessly delivered their respective mandates, and highlighted their COVID-19 assistance programs with Member States.
The Chairpersons acknowledged the significance of close coordination among G77’s Chapters. Ambassador Natividad underlined that “current realities due to the pandemic provide the G77 and its Chapters with greater reasons for relentless cooperation.”
