PH Ambassador to Portugal Welcomes Overseas Filipinos from Gibraltar during the Linggo Sa Embaixada

LISBON 11 August 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Lisbon continued its regular first Sunday of the month Linggo sa Embaixada activity on 02 August 2020. Linggo sa Embaixada is part of the efforts of the Philippine Embassy to continuously improve and provide quality consular services to the Filipino community in Portugal, despite the ongoing pandemic.

In compliance with health measures and protocols from the Portuguese government, the Philippine Embassy in Portugal implemented a strict consular appointment system wherein only applicants with confirmed appointments are allowed inside the Embassy’s consular section. All applicants were required to wear facial masks and to observe social distancing as part of the Embassy’s precautionary measures against COVID-19.

On 02 August 2020, the Embassy received 14 consular applicants who availed of consular services such as passport renewals, notarials and overseas voter registrations. Two of the applicants who came to renew their passports were accountants from Gibraltar, which is under the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon consular jurisdiction. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory, on Spain’s south coast and a seven-hour drive from Lisbon. Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria, together with the Embassy consular officers and staff, discussed with the two Filipinos the status of overseas Filipinos in Gibraltar especially in the time of COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador Feria encouraged them to reach out with the Philippine Embassy through its facebook account @PHLinPortugal.

The next Linggo sa Embaixada is scheduled on 06 September 2020. The Philippine Embassy’s regular consular services is open from Mondays to Thursdays from 10:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M.
