02 May 2014- Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. met on April 29 with Mr. Ricardo Navarro Benitez and Mr. Ricardo Casado Guzman, the President and Director-General, respectively, of the Camara Nacional de Comercio, Servicios, y Turismo de la Ciudad de Mexico (CANACO DF) to discuss ways to strengthen Philippines-Mexico trade relations.
CANACO DF was established in 1847, predating most of Mexico’s national Chambers of Commerce. It works to promote trade, services, and tourism in Mexico, provides representation and counseling, supports small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs), and provides mediation and arbitration services to its affiliates.
While the majority of companies and industries in Mexico are SMEs, CANACO DF has around 40,000 affiliates and around 1,000 honorary entrepreneurs, including large corporations such as Walmart.
Ambassador Dilem provided Mr. Navarro and Mr. Casado with an overview of Philippines-Mexico bilateral relations, including information on the Philippines’ economy, culture, and tourism sector, and highlighted prospects for Mexican businessmen and investors in the Philippines. Ambassador Dilem also invited Mexico City’s business sector to attend the Manila FAME exhibition in October 2014. END
