PH Ambassador to Egypt Meets with African Union Permanent Delegate to the League of Arab States

CAIRO 17 August 2020 — Philippine Ambassador to Egypt Sulpicio M. Confiado met with Ambassador Bouzaher Abdelhamid, Head of Delegation of the African Union Permanent Delegation (AUPD) to the League of Arab States at the latter’s office in Cairo on 12 August 2020. Ambassador Confiado was accompanied by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Bojer B. Capati.
Ambassador Abdelhamid and AUPD Protocol Officer Ghada Samir El Souly welcomed the Philippine government’s interest in becoming an Observer for the African Union.
During the courtesy visit, Ambassador Confiado underscored the importance of the African continent to the Philippines, as well as the Philippines’ objective of strengthening bilateral relations with African nations.
Ambassador Confiado also raised possible plans for cooperation with the African Union through Technical & Vocational Education, MSME Development and Sustainable Tourism.
The Philippine Embassy in Cairo will continue working with the African Union Permanent Delegation to the League of Arab States in developing a working plan between the Philippines and African Union through development cooperation, enhancement of political and security cooperation and further economic exchanges with Africa.
