IT-BPO Industry on PH: We’ve Got Support…Excellent Workforce

LOS ANGELES 20 August 2020 – The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles supported the joint staging by the Philippine Foreign Service Posts and Philippine Trade and Investment Centers (PTICs) in the United States, of a webinar series under the banner “Global Business Processes Webinar Series.”  The project was conceptualized by the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu together with PTIC-L.A.

The first of the series entitled, “Business Pivot: Understanding How Outsourcing Can Be a Strategy to Grow your Business,” was held on 13 August 2020.  Speakers were chief executives who have established outsourcing companies in the Philippines namely, Genfinity and Board Member of Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines, Inc Co-Founder Jeff Williams, Connext Global Solutions President Tim Mobley, and Panalo Solutions Chief Executive Officer JR Calanoc.

The speakers provided an overview of process outsourcing as a business option, its various types and current trends in the business landscape. All the speakers shared similar positive experiences with the Philippines as a business location, especially for IT-BPO. Genfinity’s Jeff Williams highlighted the strong preference for Filipinos in healthcare BPO.

According to him, this strong preference is rooted in many factors including the 97.5% literacy rate in the country, the 45 million strong labor force, and the Filipinos’ remarkable performance in the annual United States National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) comprising nearly 50% of passers in 2018.

“We’ve got support, we’ve got the people…excellent workforce,” he explained as he spoke on Genfinity’s motivation to stay in the Philippines.

IT-BPO is present in over 40 provinces at 262 I.T. economic zones in the Philippines.  It is one of the richest, more mature and dynamic industries in the country.

The "Global Business Processes” powered by the Philippine Webinars Series will run from 13 August 2020 to 01 October 2020.

Joining the webinar as observers were Philippine Consul General in Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz, Consul Rea G. Oreta, Information Officer Mary Grace “Joss” D. Leaño and PTIC-LA’s Trade Commissioner Eric C. Elnar. END
