TEL AVIV 24 August 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Israel Neal Imperial met with Israel’s incoming Trade Attaché to the Philippines Tomer Heyvi at the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv on 06 August 2020 to welcome the State of Israel’s initiative of opening its first resident trade mission in Manila in October this year. The resident trade mission is expected to boost the bilateral trade relations between the Philippines and Israel.
“The appointment of a Trade Attaché to the Philippines is a clear indication that Israel has confidence in the economic outlook of the country. The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic also presents opportunities for the two countries to strengthen cooperation on mutually beneficial trade in goods, technology, and services,” said Ambassador Imperial.
Ambassador Imperial highlighted how the Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry of the Philippines, which remains a low-lying fruit untapped by Israeli investors, can benefit from 24/7 and undisrupted company operations. He also highlighted the strategic location of the Philippines in Asia which could serve as a platform for Israeli companies to access the 630 million strong Southeast Asian consumer market.
Mr. Heyvi plans to actively engage with Philippine business communities and associations in exploring opportunities to further strengthen the bilateral trade relations of the Philippines and Israel. Mr. Heyvi is expected to assume office in October this year. END
