PH Consulate General in Macau Checks on Welfare of Filipinos Affected by Typhoon Higos

MACAU SAR 24 August 2020 – The Philippine Consulate General in Macau SAR deployed two composite teams to check on the members of the Filipino Community immediately following the onslaught of Category 10 Typhoon Higos in Macau last 19 August 2020.
The teams consisted of officials of the Consulate and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) in Macau SAR. They visited a total of 16 Macau SAR-designated shelter areas.
Philippine Consul General to Macau SAR Lilybeth R. Deapera expressed relief that no Filipino was reported hurt or needed help in any of these temporary shelters.
Leaders of Filipino Community organizations contacted by the Consulate also reported that their members were all safe.
Consul General Deapera noted the level of preparedness of concerned Macau authorities in responding to the typhoon.
