05 May 2014- Philippine Ambassador and Permanent Delegate the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro presented her credentials to UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France on April 24.

 

Ambassador Lazaro underlined the importance of UNESCO to the Philippines during her meeting with the Director General.  She expressed the continuing commitment of the Philippines to work closely with UNESCO, especially in promoting sustainable development, education and culture.  She also conveyed the appreciation of the Philippine government for UNESCO’s response to the disasters that struck the country late last year.

 

UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations system whose primary objective is to contribute to peace and security through cooperation programs in the areas of education, culture, the sciences and communication and information. END
