05 May 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Poland Patricia Ann V. Paez met with the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce President Andrzej Arendarski last April 29 in the latter’s office to discuss the planned Polish Business/Economic Mission to the Philippines which is slated for this year.
Ambassador Paez gave an overview of the trade and investment opportunities for Poland in the Philippines. She also informed Mr. Arendarski that despite the natural calamities that struck the Philippines last year, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 7.2% in 2013 - the second highest in the Asia-Pacific region, next only to China’s 7.7% GDP growth for the same year.
She likewise apprised Mr. Arendarski of the Embassy’s recent trade and investment promotion campaign in Katowice, which was attended by 31 representatives of companies in Silesia.
The visit to the Philippines of the Polish Business/Economic Mission is a joint undertaking of the Philippine Embassy, the Polish Chamber of Commerce, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Board of Investments (BOI), and the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (OUIER).
It was a result of the trade and investment promotion campaign in Warsaw last November which was topbilled by PEZA Director General Lilia de Lima and launched by the Philippine Embassy, the Polish Chamber of Commerce, the DTI, and PEZA.
Other officials of the Polish Chamber of Commerce who also attended the meeting were Ambassador Jerzy Drozdz, Director of the Foreign Relations Department and Ms. Karatzyna Kaniewska, Senior Project Manager of the Foreign Relations Department. Attaché Rachelle Gonzales accompanied Ambassador Paez in the meeting. END
