OFWs in Brunei Upgrade Skills Through Basic Haircutting, Styling Course

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 02 September 2020 – In line with its reintegration and skills enhancement programs for the Filipino diaspora, the Philippine Embassy, in partnership with the Filipino Association (FA) in Brunei Darussalam, held its first “Matuto sa Gunting at Suklay” (Basic Hair Cutting and Styling Course) for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at the Philippine Chancery on 30 August 2020.
A total of 38 OFWs, with six males and 32 females, participated in the inaugural session of the course, which will run four sessions to be held every Sunday during the month of September.
Mr. Richard V. Caysao, an OFW who operates and manages a salon in Bandar Seri Begawan, has been serving as lecturer for the course, which includes hair cutting demonstrations and practical workshops. Each participant is provided with haircutting shears and combs.
The course was conducted in accordance with the safety guidelines and protocols on mass gatherings of the Ministry of Health of Brunei Darussalam.
The skills enhancement course is part of the government’s Reintegration Program for OFWs of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and the Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Brunei Darussalam. END
